
Jamshedpur: Tarapore School organized Rhythm on the 8th of April, 2019. Rhythm is a non- competitive event for the kindergarten students of various schools of Jamshedpur. The Students learnt various skills by participating in different activities. Over 30 schools participated in this event.
This year the theme for Rhythm was �Sounds of India� based on the UN International year of Indigenous Languages. The chief guest for the event was Dr. Indu Chauhan.
To celebrate the unity and diversity of our country, the students met in the auditorium to watch a puppet show, learn about different states through a presentation and then learnt a fun song with greetings from around the country. They then proceeded to the various centres. Each classroom was transformed into a vibrant state of India to learn about their language and culture. In the state of Gujarat, students learnt the game of kodi, a funny poem about a fat elephant in Guajarati, made traditional mirror work potlis on bandhni.
In the Bihari station, students learnt through puzzles, circle time and created Madhubani paintings with traditional wooden pens and ink.
In the state of Punjab, students separated wheat on a �soop�, made parathas and ate them too. They also danced and learnt boliyaan to a traditional dholak beat.
When students visited the Malayalam station, they were welcomed with a tika and lungi dance costumes and music. They made rangolis, played kanchi-goli and learnt how to fish. They also got fresh coconut water to cool off.
In the Bengali station, the students were welcomed with a �shonko� and they continued to make alpanas, paint a traditional �panka� and sang �Rabindra Sangeet� with their teachers.
The children thoroughly enjoyed themselves and learnt a lot of new things through the play-way method. They learnt about our rich culture and varied heritage. It was a fun-filled experience, learning about the different languages, depicting unity in diversity.
