Jamshedpur, May 20 : Meteorological Department’s Ranchi centre has said that a cyclonic circulation over west Bihar coupled with a low pressure trough are likely to result in thunderstorms and rain at isolated pockets of Jharkhand during the next 48 hours.
” As per our study, thunderstorm with gusty winds reaching a maximum speed of 40 Kmph are very likely at isolated places especially in central and north eastern parts of the state during the next two days, ” said S C Mandal.
The weatherman said that apart from the cyclonic circulation over Bihar, a trough running from north Madhya Pradesh across northern parts of West Bengal extending upto 0.9 Km above the mean sea level is impacting Jharkhand’s weather. The cyclonic circulation was extending 1.5 Km above the mean sea level.
Around 5 pm today, it had become so dark in Jamshedpur and its neighbouring places that cars had to switch on their head lamps. The day temperature hovered around 35 degree Celsius in Kolhan region, three notches below normal. Light rain was also reported from a few isolated pockets.
