Jamshedpur: In a major road accident on the Tata-Kandra main road in Seraikela-Kharsawan district, three youths died on Wednesday night after a speeding trailer went out of control near a tool room, turning the busy stretch into a scene of death and chaos.
According to eyewitnesses, the trailer bearing registration number NL-02-Q-7066 first rammed into a scooter from behind with tremendous force. The scooter (JH-05-DH-5095) was badly damaged, and its rider was thrown onto the road. The impact proved fatal, and the young man died on the spot.
In a shocking turn, the trailer driver jumped off the vehicle immediately after the collision and fled the scene. With no one at the wheel, the heavy vehicle continued to move uncontrollably, crossed the road divider, and entered the opposite lane.
Moments later, the runaway trailer struck a Bullet motorcycle (JH-05-BV-1386) coming from the opposite direction. One of the two youths riding the motorcycle died instantly due to the severe impact, while the other sustained critical injuries and later succumbed during treatment at the hospital.
Traffic on the Tata-Kandra main road came to a standstill for a considerable period as emergency response and rescue operations were carried out.
Police reached the site soon after receiving information and seized the trailer. A search operation has been launched to trace the absconding driver, while an investigation is underway to ascertain the exact circumstances leading to the tragic incident.
