Three shops demolished in Jamshedpur’s Sakchi

Jamshedpur, June 1: Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC) on June 1 utilized JCBs to demolish three shops erected in front of Alisons Apartment at Sakchi Aam Bagan. The demolition, carried out at 4 pm, targeted the illegal structures, aligning with the forthcoming High Court hearing on June 13 regarding map deviations.

Prior to the hearing, the Dhalbhum Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) is mandated to submit a response. Consequently, the SDO has been meticulously scrutinizing buildings, particularly those where the JNAC team had previously intervened. Any observed violations prompt immediate action, as witnessed in the repeated demolition drives.

Initially, on May 2, the JNAC team initiated action against shops operating within the basement of Ali Sons Apartment. Subsequently, after SDO inspections, a second phase of demolitions occurred on Tuesday, targeting the same location. The recent campaign marked the third such operation, resulting in the demolition of three additional shops.

The legal backdrop stems from a PIL (Public Interest Litigation) addressing illegal constructions, particularly those deviating from approved maps. The Jharkhand High Court, presided over by Judges Rangan Mukhopadhyay and Deepak Roshan, entrusted Jamshedpur NAC with the task of converting basements, previously housing businesses, into parking spaces.

Engineers from Jamshedpur NAC, including MK Pradhan and Sanjay Singh, supervised the demolition campaign, reflecting the continued efforts to address urban planning irregularities and enforce legal compliance.
