Jamshedpur: Taking cognizance of complaint by Asanbani villagers regarding beating up of a minor by police jawans, three of the accused personnel of Azadnagar PS were suspended by the City SP pending an enquiry.
According to reports, the policemen had spread a net in the nearby jungle to trap birds. When they were away, some children of the village spotted the birds caught in the net. They extracted the birds and carried them away to their homes in Asanbani village.
When the policemen got wind of the birds being taken away by the village kids, 11 of the jawans went to Asanbani and on enquiry, were able to nab a kid, Ravi who had kept two birds in his house. The policemen not only snatched away the birds but also beat up the minor Ravi. They took him to the police station and put him in the lockup.
On hearing of the incident, the villagers met the City SP in his office and complained about the incident demanding immediate action against the police jawans concerned. The City SP�s action was based on that complaint.
