Jamshedpur, July 16: The police and CRPF arrested three naxal supporters from Derang village under the same police station area in Ghatshila sub-division of East Singhbhum district on Thursday.
The three were arrested for carrying explosives materials from Bengal border along the Chakulia police station area to Ghurabandha.
Those arrested were identified as Khela Baske (50), Mangal Baske (45) and Pahad Sahu (35), all residents of Ghatshila sub-division.
Others police officers who were present on this occasion included superintendent of police (rural) Shailendra Kumar Sinha, assistant commandant of CRPF, Ashish Kumar and additional SP (naxal operation) Shailendra Kumar Burnwal.
East Singhbhum SSP Anoop T Mathew said that acting on a tip off the police and paramilitary forces stopped Khela Baske and Mangal Baske, and seized a consignment of explosives which they were carrying from Chakulia to Ghurabandha.
According to Mathew, the naxal leader Madan Mahto who is active on the Jharkhand-Bengal border at Chakulia had arranged the explosives and handed them to Sahu, who had handed them over to Khela and Mangal. The seized explosives, about 10 Kgs, included detonators, gelatin sticks and aluminium.
