Jamshedpur/Chaibasa, Mar 4: Three security personnel of Jharkhand Jaguar were killed in an improvised IED blast triggered by Naxal at dense forest and hilly terrain at Lanji village under Toklo thana area in West Singhbhum district on Thursday morning.

The blast took place when the West Singhbhum district police and CRPF unit were undertaking search operation when the blast was triggered leading to killing of three security personnel and injury to two more jawans. The injured jawans have been airlifted to Ranchi for treatment.
According to information, in the last 30 days security forces have defused and recovered over 70 IEDs and cylinder bombs in different parts of the West Singhbhum district through joint operation of district police and CRPF. There have been arresting too.

It is being assumed that rebels were planning to cause some major incident to cast fear among security forces and common masses and establish their presence in the territory.. There have been encounter between security forces and Maoists in the past too in the Lanji villlage area.Â

After the incident, search operation has been incident by the combined forces of Jharkhand police and the CRPF unit.Â
Soon after the incident DIG Kolhan Rajiv Ranjan Singh, SP West Singhbhum Ajay Linda and other senior police officials rushed to the spot of the incident.Â

The three constables in the Jharkhand Jaguar who were martyred in the blast include,, Hardwar Shah (of Palamau), Kiran Surin (Simdega) and head constable Devendra Kumar Pandit (Godda).Â

While the injured who were airlifted to Ranchi include, constable Deep Topno (Khunti) and constable Nikku Oraon (Latehar).Police sources claimed that rebels had also faced damage in the encounter and at least two Naxal were killed in the retaliatory firing by the security forces. They have either sustained grievous injuries or have died and their body taken away to hide evidence.. After the Covid-19 pandemic have been reguarly clashes between forces and rebels.Â
