Seraikela, Aug 10: A heart-wrenching road accident claimed the lives of three friends early Sunday morning on the Hata-Chaibasa main road, between Murumdih petrol pump and Lakdakocha, under Rajnagar police station. Around 3 a.m., a speeding motorcycle (JH 05 DP 1703) crashed into the rear of a stationary breakdown Hyva truck (JH 22 G 8499). The impact was so severe that all three riders died on the spot.

They were rushed by ambulance to the Rajnagar Community Health Centre, where doctors declared them dead. The victims were identified as Lakhan Kumar (27), Sanjay Lohar (22) and Raju Sandil (23), all residents of Naga Doongri, Baridih Basti, under Sidhgora police station, Jamshedpur. The three were reportedly on their way to a sister’s house in Chaibasa when the crash occurred. Witnesses said the collision was so intense that the victims’ faces were unrecognizable.

The tragedy plunged Baridih Basti into mourning. Lakhan worked in a tent house lighting business, Sanjay was a mason’s helper and Raju was the sole breadwinner of his family.

Following the accident, grieving relatives and locals blocked the Hata-Chaibasa road, demanding compensation and the presence of the truck owner. Rajnagar police, led by Station Officer Chanchal Kumar, intervened and cleared the blockade after about an hour. Locals said the incident again highlighted the dangers of heavy vehicles being parked carelessly on roadsides.
