Ranchi: Three women workers are reported dead in an explosion at a quarrying site in Pakur district early Thursday morning. The incident reportedly occurred in Arjundanga village at the quarry of one Suleman Marandi. Sources said the women were not warned about the explosion prior to the triggering of the same. The three died instantly following the explosion. The person employed for explosion claimed he could not see the women due to fog. Sources said the quarry manager tried to carry the bodies to the area near the border of West Bengal. But local people protested it. Police reached the police on being tipped off by the villagers. The bodies were sent to the government hospital for postmortem examination. Police have identified the women. They said she was a resident of Mahgaon village in Pakuria police station area. Local administration authorities and the police officials have begun a probe into the incident. Cops are trying to find out if permission had been sought and granted prior to the quarrying and explosion and if any recklessness or violation of mining norms by the quarry manager.
