Ranchi, Dec 15: A big incident took place during the inauguration ceremony of the park and boating facilities at Ranchi when three including a child died when their boat overturned.
After the inauguration by Tourism Secretary Sajal Chakraborty was taking a ride in motor boat along with other women and children after completing three rounds he himself pressed for the third round and on the occasion while Sajal was driving the boat himself it overturned leaving three dead and nine others seriously injured.
The people at the spot informed Sajal about overload but ignoring the fact he moved ahead and just distance from the starting point boat overturned, Sajal himself barely survived the incident but inturn left three deaths and nine critically injured who are being treated at various city hospitals.
Soon CM Hemant Soren reached RIMS and announced Rs 2 lakh as compensation for the deceased while free treatment for the injured.
Anguished crowd created havoc, pelted stones at the police, damaged property of the park. Police resorted to lathi charge to control the crowd.
DC Vinay Kumar Choubey, SSP Bhimsen Tutti, SDM Amit Kumar, City SP Manoj Ratan Chothe, DSP Deepak along with several Police Station officials reached the spot and took the situation under control.
Also present on the occasion were Former Jharkhand Assembly Speaker CP Singh and Former CM Arjun Munda who said that due to negligence the incident took place.
The people present were also excited and some were trying to take credit for the opening of the park that in turn made the incident occur. Munda said that the incident should be investigated.
Expressed condolences over the episode BJP State President Dr. Ravindra Kumar Rai said that it is a very sad incident that on the inauguration day this type of incident took place. It is a negligence of the management and demanded investigation of the incident.
Three deaths included Abdul Mannan aged 40 years resident of Banu floor Road, Temple Hills, Sukdevnagr. Child Stained Mukherjee aged 5 years daughter of Tushar Kanti hero resident of Netaji Nagar, Kantatoli while the third person was Sagrmay Banerjee aged 36 years resident of Coker, Bajartandh in Sadar.
The wounded were Pooja Banerjee (28 years), Coker Bajartandh seats. Nvonita hero (28 years), Kantatoli, Netaji Nagar.
