Jamshedpur, September 22: The three-day Training-cum-Workshop on Avian Care and Captive Breeding, organized by Tata Steel Zoological Park (TSZP) for 10 zoos under the West Bengal Zoo Authority, concluded on Sunday.
The closing ceremony was attended by Dr. Rajesh Chouhan, Regional Director (Animal Husbandry), Kolhan Range, as the chief guest. The workshop, which began on September 20, was inaugurated by Capt. Amitabh, Hon. Secretary of Tata Steel Zoological Society.

Dr. Sulata Maity, Scientific Officer of the West Bengal Zoo Authority, expressed her gratitude to TSZP and Curator Dr. Sanjay Kumar Mahato for organizing the enriching program.
Research Assistant Anwesha Dey shared her experience of classroom learning, field work and tour around the city that was very thoughtfully planned by the Programme Coordinator. Sanjit Pandit, Veterinary Assistant, Alipore Zoo also shared his experience with everyone.
The workshop included 14 technical sessions, with seven classroom and seven field visits, covering aspects of avian care and breeding.
The talks on technical sessions were delivered by Dr. Seema Rani, Biologist cum Education Officer, Dr. Sanjay Kumar Mahato, Curator TSZP, Dr. Sanjit Kumar, Assistant Veterinary Officer, Dilip Dey, Field Supervisor (Animal), Tarakeshwar Ram, Field Supervisor (Animal), Bharat Chandra Mahato, Animal Attendant shared their experience on ground. The programme was successfully organised with the support of all zoo staffs, especially M. Kumar, Pratap Gill, Kartik Gorai, Manoj Nag and Som. The event was compeered by Sayok Sarkar, Zoo Volunteer.
All the 13 participants were presented with certificate of completion for the Training cum Workshop on Avian Care and its Captive Breeding with Special Reference to African Grey Parrot from September 20.
The session also saw presence of Dy. Director (GA) Naim Akhtar and all zoo staffs.
