Jamshedpur: Saumya Deep, a mechanical engineer and resident of Sonari, has captured international attention with his innovative concept in sustainable energy. Currently serving as an administrator at Vivekananda International School, he is also actively engaged in independent research in the fields of energy and physics.
Saumya Deep presented his research paper at the Energy Tech Conference 2026, held in Tokyo, Japan, on March 26-27. His paper, titled “A Hypothetical Cyclic Gravito-Cryogenic-Geothermal Energy Conversion System Using Liquid Air as Working Medium,” proposes a unique hybrid system combining gravitational energy, cryogenic technology, and geothermal energy.
The concept involves filling liquid air into a specially designed container, which is then sent deep into the Earth through a vertical shaft. As the container descends, gravitational force generates energy. At greater depths, the Earth’s internal heat converts the liquid air into gas. This expansion drives a turbine, producing additional energy. The container is then returned to the surface, enabling a continuous cycle of energy generation. This multi-source energy model holds promise for large-scale green energy production and storage. It could contribute significantly to India’s goal of achieving energy self-reliance while ensuring a stable power supply. Saumya Deep’s work received high praise from international experts, earning him a Certificate of Remarkable Presentation. The session was chaired by renowned scientist Dr. Peter Harrop from the UK and Professor L. Wayne from the University of Auckland. Experts believe such integrated systems could shape the future of sustainable energy solutions.
