Jamshedpur: In a major breakthrough, Kadma police arrested three individuals carrying illegal firearms near Marine Drive, foiling what is believed to be a premeditated criminal act.
The arrested have been identified as Shahrukh Khan, Lalit Yadav, and Rakesh Kumar. Acting on a tip-off about suspicious activities near the Marine Drive stretch, a police team swiftly raided the area and apprehended the trio. The police recovered a loaded country-made pistol, a magazine with two live rounds, a country-made revolver, and another live bullet from their possession.

City SP Kumar Shivashish, addressing the media, revealed that the accused were allegedly plotting a serious crime. “Preliminary investigation indicates the weapons were meant for a planned criminal activity. Further inquiry is underway to uncover the source of these arms and any links to broader criminal networks,” he stated.
The incident has sparked concern among residents, given the high footfall and strategic importance of Marine Drive. Locals have lauded the swift police action and demanded enhanced patrolling and surveillance to ensure public safety.
The arrested individuals have been remanded to judicial custody, and the police are now delving into their criminal histories. Investigators are also probing potential associates and verifying whether the suspects are linked to any organized crime syndicate.
SP Shivashish affirmed the department’s commitment to cracking down on illegal activities. “No anti-social elements will be spared. We are intensifying citywide surveillance and urge the public to report any suspicious behavior immediately,” he added.
