Three cows die under mysterious circumstances in Potka

Jamshedpur, Dec 17: Three cows in Shankarda village under Potka Block died today under mysterious circumstances. Veterinary medics Dr Sanjay Kumar and Dr DK Chaurasia went to the village and took blood, stool and liver samples of the dead cattle and sent them to Ranchi for investigating the cause of their death.

Both Dr Sanjay Kumar and Dr DK Chaurasia stated that as per initial findings the deaths of the cows could be attributed to Anthrax and if the test results of the samples were positive then the spread of the disease among cattle in Shankarda and neighboring villages would have to be stopped by giving them Anthrax vaccine.

The dead cows belonged to Kalidas Gope and Jitendra Gope. The cows were buried in eight feet deep trenches far from the village. Former Zila Parishad executive Karunamay Mandal has demanded compensation for Kalidas and Jitendra Gope from the government for the loss of the cows.
