Jamshedpur: City police here busted a gang of ATM fraudsters by arresting three persons with a cache of fake ATM cards, PAN cards, Aadhar cards, SIM cards and mobile phones.
Those arrested were identified as Mohammad Arif, Mohammad Shakir Hussain and Mohammad Rahis Kadri. The first two are residents of Haryana while the third is a native of Mathura (UP), cops said.
Police said the accused persons used to dupe banks by first withdrawing cash from the bank accounts of different persons by using their ATM cards and later seeking refund of the amounts withdrawn by them.
Before seeking refund, the accused persons used to press the power off button of ATMs as a result of which the transaction status showed as �failed�. Due to �so-called failed transaction, the banks refunded the amounts to the accounts within a week and thus lost their money to the frauds, police said.
