Thousand Sakhi mandals to be connected with farm mechanism : CS

Ranchi: Chief Secretary Raj Bala Verma has directed state officials concerned to prepare detailed scheme to connect people with self-employment, self reliance and livelihood programmes.

She directed the officials to make profiles of 150 Sakhi mandals having expertise in different fields and ready to render their services in those fields. She said this while discussing SHG expansion with officers of Jharkhand State Livelihood Promotion Society here on Saturday.

Verma said that conversion schemes of Agriculture, Rural and Drinking Water Department should be implemented through Sakhi Mandals and VOs.

She said that the government will directly transfer funds into the bank accounts of SHGs for purchasing goats, hens and agriculture tools. A revolving fund worth Rs 3498 lakh already provided to JSLPS will be provided to the SHGs.

She directed all district officials to coordinate with agriculture officers, animal husbandry officers and KVK officers. Moreover, work-plan should be made to tag animal husbandry with anganwadi.

The CS said that vegetables should be grown on at least 300 acres of land through drip irrigation. 1000 sakhi mandals should be connected with farm mechanism.

Districts which have not provided list to SHGs for purchasing agro processing machine should coordinate with soil conservation officers in a week and send the list.

In respect to seed processing, it was directed that all dist. should start training in November. 15035 sakhi mandals have been trained against the targeted 31205 sakhi mandals.

Laying stress on the potential of enterprises, the CS said that special work plan should be prepared and work should be started in all 5 divisions to prepare sanitary napkins for the students of Kasturba schools.

She also directed to prepare work plan to supply dress in schools. Milk collection centers should also be connected with SHG. The department has targeted to connect 150 Milk collection centers with sakhi mandals.

It was also said to conduct survey of 2000 selected villages to make them ODF. She said that the VO will report the survey to the district level officers about number of toilets and the people desirous to build one.

Agriculture Secretary Nitin Madan Kulkarni, Fisheries Secretary Pooja Singhal and officers of Jharkhand State Livelihood Promotion Society were present in the meeting.
