Those in power should respect public opinion: AP Singh

Bhojpuriya Beyar organizes seminar at Tulsi Bhavan

Jamshedpur, Feb 10: City-based cultural organization Bhojpuriya Beyar organized a seminar on �Intellectuals and The Current Situation of The Country� at Tulsi Bhavan, Bistupur, on Sunday. The chief guest of the event was Amarendra Pratap Singh, former Speaker of Bihar Assembly.

Addressing the gathering, the chief guest said those in power should respect people�s thoughts, opinions, and sentiments. Unless and until, thoughts are respected, the powers-that-be cannot remain beautiful, he said.

Singh said the British rulers have long left India, but many laws enacted by them are still being followed in the country. He said the people of the country are free and now they should think about the propriety of continuing with such old laws.

Singh stressed the need to maintain unity notwithstanding differences in opinion. He said the intellectuals of society should show the way ahead to the country.

Other speakers Yamuna Tiwary Vyathit and Hari Ballabh Singh Arsi said there is a need to wake up people from slumber.

Among others present during the programme included Santosh Singh, Dr Narmadeshwar Pandey, AK Srivastava, Nandjee Pandey, Ramesh Kumar DD Tripathy and Sriram Pandey Bhargava.
