Jamshedpur, Nov 23: Tatanagar railway station is expected to see a significant reduction in train delays by February, with the Railways setting a target to complete the Kolhan third-line project within the next two months. Officials said the Adityapur–Tatanagar third-line stretch will be ready by December. The project, executed by Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL), is currently in its final phase and is under continuous monitoring by the traction, signal, engineering and operations departments of the Chakradharpur Division. A successful trial run was conducted in October in the presence of the Commissioner of Railway Safety. Once the third line becomes operational, freight trains will shift to a dedicated track, eliminating their halts at Jugsalai outer and Adityapur, a major cause of passenger train delays. Traction work in the Jugsalai section has been completed and Tatanagar’s upgraded RRI system is also being prepared. RVNL is converting Line 7 into a freight corridor. South Eastern Railway aims to begin regular freight movement on the third line from February.
