Thespian Hari Mittal unanimously elected Jharkhand Films� Promotion Council president

Jamshedpur, Sept 10: Veteran theatre and film personality Hari Mittal was unanimously elected the president of the Jharkhand Films� Promotion Council (JFPC) at an online meeting held on Thursday, September 10. This was announced by the Council�s convener Shiv Kumar Prasad himself a veteran cinema and theatre artiste. Shiv informed that Hari Mittal�s name was proposed by Dr Sushil Kumar Ankan and seconded by Kamal Kishor Agrawal. The entire house was unanimous in its decision to honour thespian Hari Mittal as the first president of JFPC.

The tenure of office for the new committee that was elected in an online meeting today would be for the period 2020-�23. The other office bearers elected were Dr Steffi Theresa Murmu (vice president � administration), Dr Sushil Kumar Ankan (vice president � projects), Kamal Kishor Agrawal (vice president PR and Media), Shiv Kumar Prasad (general secretary), Ramesh Hansda (secretary � administration), Binod Kumar (secretary � projects), Jainandan (secretary � PR and Media), Dwarika Nath Pandey (treasurer) and Yogesh Malhotra (assistant treasurer). The committee of executives include Sandip Banerjee, Anuj Prasad, Kumar Rajesh, Mahesh Majhi, Abhishek Gupta and Rajesh Sinha.

It was decided in the online meeting that in the second phase, JFPC would organize a video album competition for Jharkhand�s tribal community and would include song performances in the state�s regional languages. Another notable decision taken in the meeting was to hold an international film festival in Jamshedpur under the banner of JFPC in line with the Jaipur International Film Festival.

The meeting pondered over the piquant situation that in spite of almost all infrastructure requisites available in Jharkhand, filmmakers were not being attracted as desired and expected. The organization planned to hold a discussion with related personalities in webinar sessions. JFPC would hunt for possibilities to establish film cities like Mumbai and Ramoji. While acknowledging that Jharkhand was a mine laden with talents in the spheres of art and culture, the organization would endeavor to uphold the values of the indigenous musical instruments, the dances and the artistes and propagate them for posterity.

JFPC, as a part of its projects will be making biopic on multi faceted talents and freedom fighters of Jharkhand for which scripts would be invited from state writers.

The vote of thanks was offered by convener and newly elected general secretary Shiv Kumar Prasad. He hoped that the newly elected committee would work dedicatedly towards development of films, arts and culture of Jharkhand to newer heights.
