Jamshedpur: The police on Wednesday cracked a theft case allegedly resulting in the arrest of two of the suspects. While arresting the two, identified as Abinash Chaudhury (26) and Vishal Chaudhury (22), the police recovered Rs 10,15,000 and gold ornaments worth over Rs three lakh from the house of Vishal’s girl friend in Jugsalai.
The police had registered a case of theft on the FIR lodged by Devendra Chaudhury with the Jugsalai police station on November 28 against the complainant’s brother Surendra Chaudhury, wife and his sons.
Senior superintendent of police, M Tamil Vanan said that Devendra Chaudhury who is a builder and a resident of Girls’ School Road in Jugsalai had gone out of station. But on returning home on November 28, he found Rs 12 lakhs and gold ornaments from the almirah were missing.
” As per the FIR since there was no outsider at the house, Devendra suspected his brother Surendra Chaudhury, wife and children to have committed the theft. In order to solve the case we set up a special team to get the case investigated. Led by the deputy superintendent of police (law and order) Alok Ranjan, the team first interrogated Surendra Chaudhury and his wife. Later on the team interrogated Surendra’s two sons,” said Vanan.
The senior SP said Vishal was very close to his uncle Devendra Chaudhury and would drive his car also.”On being interrogated , Vishal confessed his crime. He revealed that he forced his elder brother Abinash to help in committing the theft at his uncle’s house and having taken the cash and jewellery, he had kept them at his girl-friend’s house at Jugsalai. On cracking the case, the police led Vishal to his girl-friend’s house and recovered Rs 10,15000 and the jewelries,” said the senior police officer while talking to the newsmen.
According to police, the accused Vishal had known that his uncle had a large amount of money at home given his flourishing business and therefore he had planned to commit such theft and was just waiting for an opportunity.
” During the probe we found that Vishal was close to his uncle, he had access to the keys of the house as well as the almirah. In course of making the planning to commit the theft, Vishal had made duplicate keys of the house and when the victim went out of the house, the accused Vishal got his plan executed,” said a police official .
The police sent the two brothers to Ghaghidih Central Jail after subjecting them to a Covid test and also producing them before a judicial magistrate late in the afternoon.
