Jamshedpur: The Tagore Society will organize Rabindra Nath Tagore�s 157th birth anniversary in the Rabindra Bhawan precincts on May 9 and 10.
Addressing a press meet, Tagore Society general secretary Asish Chowdhury informed that on May 9 a morning procession would be taken out at 5:30 am from Rabindra Bhawan complex and will traverse to Baug-e-Jamshed crossing, Sakchi main roundabout, The Bengal Club crossing, Jubilee Park crossing before returning to the starting point.
At 6:20 am floral tributes will be paid to the international poet by the president and other dignitaries. Tagore Academy students will present a cultural program at 6:40 am. An exhibition of handicrafts will also be organized from 7 am. The evening will comprise many cultural events.
On May 10, the teachers and staff of Tagore Academy will present dance dramas and play reading composed by Tagore as tribute to the poet. On the same day, the teachers and students of Rabindra Bhawan branch of Tagore School of Arts will present the various compositions of Rabindranath in different moods.
Asish Chowdhury stated that the institution in the poet�s memory celebrates his birth anniversary every year with presentations from his compositions. He exhorted the art and culture lovers of the city to attend the functions and pay their respects and also learn more about Rabindranath and his works.
