
Jamshedpur, March 19: Tata Football Academy (U18s) won the Tata Utkarlika Tournament after defeating Phulbani Football Club 2-1 in the final match played at Atheletic Ground in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday.
Rajat Nag of Phulbani Football Club scored the first goal of the match in the 7th minute after which none of the sides netted one as the first half ended with Phulbani FC in the lead.
TFA boys came back strongly in the second half scoring two goals. Ravi opened the scoring for TFA in the 72nd minute of the match which came as a sigh of relief for the Tata cradle. In the 86th minute Lalboilen Kilong took TFA into the lead. Phulbani Football Club tried all to equal the scoring but failed in their attempts. In the end , TFA boys were declared the champions registering a thumping 2-1 win.
The winning team was awarded cash Prize of Rs 25000. Phulbani FC received Rs 15000 as runners-up award.
Team TFA also won several individual prizes. Sudarshan Mahato won the best goalkeeper award. Sandip Mandi was awarded as the best defender and Lalboilen Kilong bagged the player of the finals.
From Phulbani Football Club Rajat Nag was awarded the player of the tournament.
