India Emerging as Global Innovation Hub, Says Lok Sabha Speaker
Birla Bats for Industry, Security and Unity in Jamshedpur
Jamshedpur, May 25: Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Sunday highlighted India’s growing prowess in technology, research, and industrial capacity, calling it a beacon of global opportunity. Addressing the platinum jubilee celebrations of the Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce and Industry at Loyola School auditorium in Jamshedpur, Birla praised India’s transformation into a self-reliant, innovation-driven economy while also delivering a stern message on national security and terrorism.

Birla asserted that India is now moving ahead of many countries in research and development, with homegrown industries rising to global standards. “Earlier, research and innovation were the forte of developed nations. But today, India is leading in technical research. Our capabilities have increased, and our research is becoming better than global standards,” he said.
Citing India’s shift from dependency to self-sufficiency, Birla remarked that Indian industries once operated as associates to global giants, but are now capable of building large-scale enterprises independently. “We must dream big to achieve big. Today, India has the strength and will to create its own industrial giants,” he added.

Paying homage to Jharkhand’s rich legacy, Birla said the land of tribal icon Birsa Munda has been a symbol of pride, resistance, and transformation. “This land has long fought for the self-respect and rights of tribal communities. Even before Independence, Jamsetji Tata envisioned an industrial system that brought economic and social change. Singhbhum Chamber has turned that vision into a solid foundation over 75 years,” he said.
Calling the Chamber a key driver of industrial and social growth, Birla commended its contributions. “Not only has the Chamber accelerated economic activity, but it has also made commendable contributions to the social sector. I congratulate them for their journey of 75 years,” he said.
He used the occasion to appeal for collective national effort, stressing the need for unity to achieve development goals. “To make India a developed nation, every citizen must contribute. Only through unity and cooperation can we transform the country,” Birla stated.
Birla also underlined that India is now regarded as the land of opportunities and investment. “India is the land of opportunities, and both central and state governments are formulating business-friendly policies. Our policies must favor entrepreneurs, because only then will the country move forward,” he said, while emphasizing the importance of continuous dialogue between governments at all levels.
On the issue of national security, Birla adopted a firm stance, especially concerning terrorism. Referring to India’s recent military action, he said, “India will no longer tolerate terrorism. Any nation involved in terrorist activities will face consequences like ‘Operation Sindoor’. This is necessary to eliminate terrorism from the world.”
Lauding the valor of Indian armed forces, Birla said, “The courage of our forces fills every Indian with pride. Through operations like Sindoor, we have shown that India is not just defending itself but also working towards eradicating terrorism globally with new policies and strategies.”
He warned that any country attempting to destabilize India through terrorism will face consequences more severe than those of Operation Sindoor. “This is the new India. We will give a befitting reply to any nation promoting terrorism. Our Prime Minister is committed to ensuring the safety and security of every citizen,” he added.
Highlighting India’s march toward self-reliance, the Lok Sabha Speaker pointed out that the country is now developing its own weapons and advancing in defence technology. “Earlier, we imported arms. Today, we are manufacturing our own. We are becoming self-reliant and showing the world that we are strong and capable.”
Concluding his address, Birla said India is now in a golden era of economic growth, having become the world’s fourth-largest economy. He emphasized that the youth, through their skill and hard work, are driving India towards self-reliance across all sectors. “The world is now looking at India as a land of inclusive development. A self-reliant India is setting an example for the world,” he said.
