Jamshedpur, Nov 5: The first-ever temple and ashram in Bihar and Jharkhand dedicated to Bahuchara Mata, the Kuldevi (clan deity) of the eunuch community, is to come up in Jamshedpur. The project, planned to be completed by the end of 2026, will come up in Shastri Nagar, Kadma, marking a significant step toward inclusivity and spiritual representation for the transgender community.

The eunuch community of Jamshedpur took the initiative to establish this temple with the support of local residents. The project’s sacred beginning took place on Wednesday, coinciding with the auspicious occasion of Kartik Purnima, Dev Dipawali and Guru Nanak Jayanti. Renowned social worker and philanthropist Pappu Sardar, an ardent fan of Bollywood actress Madhuri Dixit, made the first donation of Rs 51,000, which he handed over to Mahamandaleshwar Sadhvi Amarjeet Nand Giri. The event was also attended by Mahant Himanshi and Mahant Anandi from the eunuch community.

Mahamandaleshwar Sadhvi Amarjeet Nand Giri announced that the foundation stone for the temple and ashram would be laid in February 2026 by Mahamandaleshwar Dr. Laxminarayan Tripathi, the prominent leader of the Kinnar Akhara. She expressed gratitude for the noble gesture of Pappu Sardar, adding that since the first donation was made in Madhuri Dixit’s name, a dedication plaque honoring the actress would also be installed at the ashram.

Explaining the cultural importance of Bahuchara Mata, Sadhvi Amarjeet said that while members of the eunuch community currently performed worship in their homes, the upcoming temple would serve as a symbol of faith, equality and unity for all. The initiative brought immense joy and enthusiasm to the community, as the temple would provide a shared spiritual space to celebrate their devotion and identity.

Notably, during a religious conference organized by the Kinnar Akhara on October 24 at the Michael John Auditorium in Bistupur, Dr. Laxminarayan Tripathi had first expressed the desire to build a Bahuchara Mata temple in Jamshedpur. Taking forward that resolution, the local eunuch community had undertaken this landmark project, making it a historic moment for inclusivity and spiritual recognition in the region.
