Temperature shoots up to 40 in Jamshedpur, Met office extends forecast of heatwave condition

Jamshedpur, May 27: The denizens of Kolhan division are not going to get any respite from the hot and humid summer at least in the next couple of days, for there is no possibility of short spell of rains to provide the people some respite from grueling heat.

It was a grueling Wednesday  with several districts, especially those in north-western parts recording extreme day temperatures that were  four to five notches above normal, prompting the Met office to extend the forecast of heatwave condition  for another 24 hours.

Weathermen said the dominating westerly  winds that block moisture incursion into the atmosphere has resulted in the Celsius surge.

�The dry westerly winds are pushing up maximum temperatures and will continue doing so for the next one dat atleast. Heat wave conditions will prevail in several parts of Jharkhand, �said  an official of  Ranchi  Meteorological Centre.

The Patna metrological office that keeps monitoring the weather pattern of Jharkhand and Bihar informed that temperature will subsidize in the next few days but there is no possibility of short spells of rain in the region.

 �The low cyclonic circulation that is necessary for the short spell of rains in the summer haven�t formed on the skies over Jharkhand so far, hence the possibility of rains is not there,� said an official, Patna met office.

 The senior weatherman though asserted that heat waves would continue in the region and every precaution should be taken in this regard. �The only positive at this point of time is that mercury that was on the rise for the last couple of days is gradually subsidizing and in the next four five days the temperature will ether move down and remain constant,� noted the weather professional.

 The steel city for last ten days is boiling under the rising temperature coupled with heat waves forcing the people to confine to their house and office particularly during the punishing five hours starting as early as 10 in the morning.

 For about a week the industrial town of the state is experiencing an exhaustive atmosphere with temperature hovering at 40 degree Celsius making it difficult for the working professional and others to move on the street after 10 a.m.

 According to the district administration there are no reports of any casualty due to sunstroke thus yet but unofficially the tally is being reported at three.

 The Mahatma Gandhi Memorial College and Hospital (MGMCH) that caters to the majority of the cases of sun stroke in the city and nearby has however claimed of putting in place all requirements in place to address the issue of sun stroke.
