Jamshedpur, Oct 5: Football is in the DNA of the Tatas as the Tata Football Academy (TFA) has been producing some of the top footballers the country has seen, said, Steve Coppell, Head Coach, Jamshedpur FC.
Talking to the media persons at JRD Sports Complex on Thursday, former Manchester United winger, said, the team will be leaving for Thailand on November 11 for the pre-season training where we will play six matches against the top clubs and will spend around three weeks there before coming back to Jamshedpur on November 3 after which the team will leave for Guwahati for the first game against the North East United FC on November 18.
‘In a very short span of time Tatas have turned dreams into reality and the JRD stadium has been renovated in no time to host its maiden Indian Super League (ISL) matches. The team was formed after the Jamshedpur FC came into existence and with 15 Indian and 7 foreign players we have a formidable team with a mix of talent and skill’, said Steve Coppell.
He further said that the players are working hard and commit to give our best during the maiden ISL season which is five months long with lots of travelling.
Mukul Choudhari, Chief, Sports Excellence Centers, Tata Steel introduced the Jamshedpur FC players and technical staff. Speaking on the occasion Chaudhari said; �We have strived for a balanced mix of talented new players as well as high calibre experienced performers as well as a perfect mix of Indian and foreign recruits. A world-class training ground and state of the art players� village is being developed for the players� training and accommodation.�
Ex-TFA cadet, internationally renowned goalie Subrata Pal, Anas Edathodika were not present at the press conference today as they are currently on national team duty.
Also present on the occasion were Steve Coppell (Head Coach), Robert �Bobby� Mimms (Goalkeeping Coach), Walter Downes (Assistant Coach) and Ishfaq Ahmed (Assistant Coach).
Jamshedpur FC squad includes Subrata Paul, Sanjiban Ghosh, Anas Edathodika, Andre Bikey, Jose Luis Espinosa Arroyo (Tiri), Robin Gurung, Sairuat Kima, Shouvik Ghosh, Yumnam Raju Mangang, Bikash Jairu, Emerson Gomes de Moura (Memo), Mehtab Hossain, Sameehg Doutie, Souvik Chakrabarti, Trindade Goncalves, Ashim Biswas, Farukh Choudhary, Jerry Mawihmingthanga, Kervens Belfort, Siddharth Singh and Sumeet Passi.
The Support Staff includes Vivek Nigam (Head Physio), Soumya Bhattacharjee (Asst. Physio), Shaikh Siraj (Masseur), Md. Kasif (Masseur), Adrian Dias (Strengthening & conditioning coach and nutritionist) and Gaurav Khilari (Analyst)
Tata Group backed Jamshedpur FC�s participation in the Indian Super League will showcase Jamshedpur as a city which strongly supports sports. Tata Group and Tata Steel in particular have always had a very strong connect with the community and JFC will further strengthen the same.
