Jamshedpur, June 13: A case of gold jewelry theft aboard train no. 18029 LTT Mumbai-Shalimar Express has been successfully resolved through a collaborative effort of the Government Railway Police (GRP) and the South Eastern Railway Protection Force (SER RPF).
The incident occurred on April 24, 2024, between Jhargram and Mecheda stations. A three member inter-state gang boarded the train at Jhargram and carried out the theft. However, one of the accused was apprehended by the victim with the assistance of fellow passengers while still on the train.
Upon reaching Mecheda Railway Station, the apprehended person was handed over to the GRP, leading to the registration of a case. Following interrogation, a joint raid by GRP and SER RPF Team was conducted in Hisar, Haryana, resulting in the recovery of the stolen jewelry.
In compliance with the court’s directives, the recovered gold ornaments were returned to the rightful owner, who expressed gratitude towards the Railways and the investigating team for their swift action in resolving the case.
