Divisional Committee Meeting : MPs demand enhanced railway facilities, raise operational concern

Jamshedpur, Jan 13: A key meeting of the South Eastern Railway Divisional Committee was held on Monday at a resort on NH-33, located in the Chandil subdivision of Seraikela district on Monday. This meeting, which was attended by MPs from the Chakradharpur and Ranchi divisions as well as senior railway officials, focused on the development of railway infrastructure and services in the region. General Manager of South East Railway, Anil Kumar Mishra, provided updates on railway expansion plans and highlighted ongoing projects aimed at improving passenger amenities and operational efficiency.
Anil Kumar Mishra informed the MPs about the development plans for Tatanagar station under the Chakradharpur Railway Division, which is set to receive an investment of Rs 319 crore. The associated tenders for the project are expected to be finalized by March. He also mentioned that Adityapur railway station is being transformed into a model station, with completion of the remaining work expected shortly.

General Manager assured the MPs that their suggestions for the development of passenger amenities and railway infrastructure would be prioritized.
Jamshedpur MP Bidyut Baran Mahto, Khunti MP Kalicharan Munda, West Singhbhum MP Joba Manjhi, Lohardaga MP Sukhdev Bhagat, Chatra MP Kalicharan Singh, and Rajya Sabha MP Aditya Sahu attended the meeting and raised significant concerns regarding the expansion of railway services in their constituencies. The MPs discussed issues related to train operations, stoppages at various stations, and the urgent need for enhanced railway facilities in their regions.
Lohardaga MP highlights Gumla’s deprivation of railway facilities
Lohardaga MP Sukhdev Bhagat expressed his displeasure over Gumla’s continued lack of railway facilities, even 70 years after independence. Bhagat emphasized that the meeting should not be seen as a formality, urging the railways to take concrete steps to address this long-standing issue. He reiterated his parliamentary demands for connecting the railway line from Gumla via Lohardaga, Korba, and Bano, along with the introduction of a double-line project extending to Tori and the addition of MEMU trains.
West Singhbhum MP calls for resumption of train services
West Singhbhum MP Joba Manjhi raised concerns over the trains that were discontinued during the COVID-19 pandemic within the Chakradharpur Railway Division. Manjhi urged the Railway Board to restore these services at all affected stations. He also requested the introduction of new trains to meet growing passenger demands.
Chatra MP requests extension of MEMU trains
Chatra MP Kalicharan Singh highlighted the need for expanding train services in his constituency, particularly requesting the extension of the MEMU train running from Ranchi to Chandwa and Chatra. Despite the inclusion of his region within the South East Railway Division, Singh emphasized the necessity for increased railway facilities to serve the needs of the local population.

The meeting was also attended by Tarun Huria, Divisional Railway Manager of Chakradharpur, Jasmeet Singh Bindra, Divisional Railway Manager of Ranchi and other senior officials of South Eastern Railway.
The MPs assured their full cooperation for the smooth functioning and further development of the railway services in their constituencies.

Jamshedpur, Jan 13: The meeting was chaired by MP Bidyut Baran Mahto. As the seniormost MP present, Mahto presided over the meeting and provided a platform for MPs and their representatives to raise the demands of their respective constituencies.
During the session, MP Bidyut Baran Mahto outlined several key issues affecting Jamshedpur and the surrounding areas, focusing primarily on improving railway services. Among the major demands were the stoppage of the Ranchi Howrah Intercity Express at Chakulia on its way to Howrah, the restarting of the Antyodaya Express from Tata, and direct train services from Tata to New Delhi, Jaipur and Bangalore (via Katpadi and Tirupati).
Additionally, Mahto called for the construction of a halt at Barkola between Chakulia and Dhalbhumgarh, upgrading Sidirsai station by increasing its height and expanding passenger facilities and building a foot over bridge at Dhalbhumgarh.
The MP also highlighted the delay in constructing railway over bridges at Govindpur and Barigoda and called for the extension of rail facilities to Bandwan via Chandil, Nimdih, Bodam and Patamda.
Other demands included the construction of the Kandra Namkum railway line, increasing the number of trips of the Rajdhani Express, revising the schedule and route of Dhanbad Tatanagar Swarnarekha Express, starting a Tata Koderma Intercity via Hazaribagh Town and extending the Tata Asansol Express to Sahibganj. Furthermore, there were calls to boost the number of trips of Tatanagar SMVT Express, restart the Tata Ranchi Intercity, and extend it to Lohardaga.
