Jamshedpur: The redevelopment work of Tatanagar railway station is set to commence in the first week of March. The initial phase will focus on removing both legal and illegal constructions along the main road from Golpahari Mor to the SRP office, aligning with the new development plan.

According to railway authorities, the second entry gate will be revamped first as part of the project, which aims to enhance the economic growth of the region. The redevelopment plan includes 200 acres of land, with construction on 78.72 acres in the first phase, while the remaining land will be utilized for logistics services.

On Tuesday, railway engineering and land department officials conducted measurements along the Golpahari turn to the Engineering Colony, drawing a large number of shopkeepers and locals. Following a directive from DRM Tarun Huria, a new model of the station was publicly displayed at the in-out gate of platform number one. Previously, the model had been removed, leading to the DRM reprimanding officials and ordering its immediate reinstallation. “Having the model on display will help people visualize the transformation of Tatanagar station into a grand facility in the near future,” said the DRM.

Encroachment removal will begin soon and notices will be issued to shops and houses on railway land. The railway has already issued tenders for the project, with finalization expected by March. The master plan and DPR have been prepared, along with the technology for the station’s construction.
