Tatanagar: Railways to Demolish 50 Structures in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur: The anti-encroachment drive for the Tatanagar Railway Station redevelopment plan has gained momentum. In the latest move, the Railways has issued fresh eviction notices to residents and establishments in the Jugsalai and Bagbera areas.

According to reports, a section of the Sankata Singh Petrol Pump in Jugsalai is slated for demolition, for which a notice has already been served. Additionally, the Railways plans to completely clear the area behind and adjacent to the petrol pump, leading toward Bagbera and the surrounding Durga Bari.

There are more than 50 structures in this zone, including offices of various railway unions and several unauthorized residential encroachments. Authorities are expected to begin the demolition of these structures on Tuesday or Wednesday. This follows a previous drive that cleared encroachments on the road from the station to Bagbera; this current phase will clear the remaining sections.

New Traffic Route Planned

The Railways intends to close the current route from the Jugsalai main road to Golpahari via the station. Before this closure, a new road will be constructed that passes through the Sankata Singh Petrol Pump area, providing a direct link to Golpahari.

Parking Shifting First, Then Major Construction: Railways

Aditya Chaudhary, Senior DCM of the Chakradharpur Division (South Eastern Railway), stated that the development of the parking area is the immediate priority. Construction of a new parking lot is currently underway in the area formerly occupied by the Old Singh Hotel. Once the parking facility is complete and the remaining areas are cleared, the road shifting process will begin in full force.
