Tatanagar Railway Notice: Five Social Institutions Asked to Vacate Land Within 15 Days

Jamshedpur: The Railways has issued eviction notices to five prominent social institutions located on Bagbera Road Number 1, directing them to vacate railway land within 15 days. The move has sparked concern and unrest among members of various communities associated with these organizations.

The institutions that received notices include Parashuram Samaj Bhawan, Anugrah Narayan Shiksha Seva Sansthan, Krishna Memorial Sangh, Mithila Samaj, and Yadav Samaj Bhawan.

Institutions Seek Political Intervention

Following the issuance of notices, representatives of the affected institutions have approached several public representatives and political leaders seeking intervention in the matter. Appeals have reportedly been made to Bidyut Baran Mahato, Sanjeev Sardar, and leaders of various political parties.

Members of these organizations stated that the institutions have been functioning since around 1975 and have long served as centers for educational, cultural, and social welfare activities in the area.

Institutions Fear Impact on Community Services

Community members expressed concern that the proposed eviction could disrupt several social initiatives carried out through these organizations. Apart from hosting educational programs and community events, many of the institutions also extend financial and social support to economically weaker families.

The short 15-day deadline has increased anxiety among members who fear that decades-old institutions may be dismantled without adequate rehabilitation or alternative arrangements.

Railway Redevelopment Work Underway

The notices come amid the ongoing redevelopment of Tatanagar Railway Station. Railway authorities have begun identifying and clearing encroachments situated on railway land as part of the modernization project.

Officials maintain that unauthorized structures falling within railway premises are liable for removal irrespective of the duration of their existence.

Joint Meeting Called by Social Organizations

In response to the notices, all affected organizations have convened a meeting at 5 pm on Sunday at the premises of Anugrah Narayan Shiksha Seva Sansthan. Public representatives, including MPs, MLAs, and District Council members, have been invited to participate in discussions regarding the future course of action.

Akhileshwar Singh, president of Anugrah Narayan Shiksha Seva Sansthan, alleged that railway authorities have failed to provide clear information regarding the exact nature of the proposed project in the area.

Railway Officials Defend Action

Meanwhile, R.K. Verma, Divisional Engineer, Tatanagar, defended the action and stated that any unauthorized structure on railway land is liable for removal, irrespective of how long it has existed. “Notices to vacate the land have therefore been issued to all such institutions,” he said.
