Tatanagar Railway Hospital to Appoint Specialist Doctors to Boost Healthcare in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur: The Tatanagar Railway Hospital will soon have a team of newly appointed specialist doctors on a contractual basis. The recruitment process, initiated under directives from the South Eastern Railway (SER) zone, aims to address the longstanding shortage of medical experts at the facility and drastically improve patient care.

Interviews Conducted by Chief Medical Superintendent

Dr. S.K. Mishra, the Chief Medical Superintendent (CMS) of the Chakradharpur Division, recently oversaw the interview process to filter qualified medical professionals for these roles. The recruitment drive attracted several candidates vying for positions across key medical specialties. Out of seven highly qualified doctors who appeared for the rigorous interview process, final selections are being fast-tracked to ensure immediate deployment.

The decision to bring in specialists follows a comprehensive evaluation of the hospital’s performance and service gaps. Employee unions have been vocal about the shortage, pointing out that despite the hospital possessing modern diagnostic gear, patients were often forced to visit expensive private clinics due to the absence of specialized medical staff.

Enhancing Healthcare for Railway Personnel

The inclusion of these specialists is expected to ease the burden on the 50-bed hospital, which manages a bustling Out-Patient Department (OPD) and emergency workload daily. The departments expected to benefit most from this recruitment drive include orthopaedics, gynaecology, ophthalmology, and paediatrics.

Infrastructure Overhaul on the Horizon

In addition to bolstering the medical staff, the Chakradharpur Division has revealed plans for a complete infrastructural revamp of the Tatanagar Railway Hospital. Alongside the integration of the new specialist doctors, authorities are preparing to modernize testing labs, enhance the availability of crucial diagnostic tools, and systematically upgrade the hospital’s overall facility layout.
