Jamshedpur, Aug 4: The visionary Amrit Bharat Station Scheme will witness a significant boost as Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually lays the foundation stone for the redevelopment of 508 railway stations, including four located in the South Eastern Railway zone, on Sunday, August 6.

The four railway stations to be revamped under the South Eastern Railway zone are Barbil, Rajkharsawan, Manoharpur, and Rajgangpur. While Rajkharsawan and Manoharpur are nestled in the scenic West Singhbhum district of Jharkhand, Barbil and Rajgangpur are situated in the neighboring state of Odisha. These stations fall under the Chakradharpur division of the South Eastern Railway.

The Amrit Bharat Station Scheme is an ambitious plan devised by the Indian Railways with the objective of redeveloping railway stations to improve their infrastructure continuously. As part of the scheme, a total of 1,309 railway stations across the nation will undergo upgrades in different phases. Launched in 2022, this scheme aims to elevate the passenger experience and modernize the railway ecosystem.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will initiate the online foundation stone-laying ceremony for these railway stations from New Delhi. Accompanying him will be Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, underscoring the government’s commitment to transforming railway infrastructure across the country.

As part of the redevelopment plan under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, the Barbil railway station is set to witness the addition of parking facilities, a new upper-class waiting lounge, and several other amenities. Additionally, a revitalized circulating area will feature monuments, flags, green patches, and comfortable seating arrangements.

The Rajgangpur railway station will benefit from the installation of lift and escalator facilities, along with the construction of platform shades and proper signages. The redevelopment at Rajgangpur is anticipated to require an investment of Rs 11.70 crore.

The Manoharpur and Rajkharsawan railway stations will also undergo significant transformations, boasting a wide array of modern facilities as part of the redevelopment plan. The railways have allocated approximately Rs 18 crores for the infrastructure development in both stations, embracing the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme’s vision of enhancing passenger comfort and convenience.

The virtual foundation-laying ceremony marks a momentous step in the journey to elevate railway stations across the nation. The redeveloped stations will not only bolster passenger experiences but also contribute to the overall modernization of the Indian Railways’ network.
