Jamshedpur, March 12: Passengers would soon get traditional and regional food items in the trains passing through South Eastern Railway (SER) zone.
According to sources, South Eastern Railway zone officials have issued an order for offering traditional and regional delicacies to passengers in trains passing through Tatanagar. This order has been issued after a similar order was issued by the Railway Board, sources said. As per the order, the pantry cars will have to provide items such as Ragi laddoos, Kachoris, Masala Dosa, Upma, Paratha and millets items. Such items would also be available in the canteens and other outlets at the railway station. In trains arriving from West Bengal, passengers would be provided Jhaal Muri while in trains coming from South Indian states, passengers would be provided South Indian food including millets and Bajre Ki Roti. The passengers would also get Litti Chokha and Khichdi. A new menu is being prepared for this purpose. The delicacies would be available within Rs 100. Importantly, UN has declared this year as Millets Year on India’s suggestion. The DRM of CKP said millets and their various products would be promoted by the Railways.
