Jamshedpur, Nov 1: In a remarkable display of commitment to wildlife conservation and operational safety, the Chakradharpur Railway Division temporarily suspended train movement between Bisra and D Cabin sections on Friday to allow a herd of 22 elephants to cross the railway tracks safely.
On receiving reports from field officials about the presence of elephants near the track, the railway authorities acted swiftly to halt train operations.
Railway staff maintained strict vigilance at the site to prevent any untoward incidents or accidents during the crossing.
Officials stated that the decision underscores Indian Railways’ sensitivity towards wildlife and its ethos of coexistence.
They reiterated that along with ensuring smooth train operations, the protection of the environment and wildlife remains one of Indian Railways’ top priorities.

Train services were halted for nearly an hour at various stations until the entire herd had safely crossed the tracks.
Normal operations resumed soon after.
