Tatanagar: Blockade over, passenger trains services to resume Sep 26

Jamshedpur, Sep 25: With the rail blockade having got over, passenger train services on the Howrah-Mumbai-New Delhi route is expected to return to normalcy from Monday, sources said.

According to sources, the decision to resume the passenger train services was taken by the railway authorities concerned following the decision of agitators to call off the strike. Till yesterday, the railway officials concerned had announced that there would not be any train services on Sunday. The trains would start running normally from Monday onwards, sources said.

Two passenger trains from Tatanagar railway station were sent for Kharagpur today. The first train departed at 9.15 am while the other left at 6.05 pm. An MEMU train from Kharagpur arrived at Tatanagar station.

Since last five days, Utkal Express and Purushottam Express ran on altered routes. From Monday, these trains would start running on their erstwhile route. Several trains such as Tata-Dhanbad Swarnarekha Express, Tata-Asansol Passenger and Howrah-Sainagar Shirdi Express remained cancelled today.

Meanwhile, operation of goods trains started from this morning. According to Manish Kumar Pathak, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager (DCM), Chakradharpur rail division, “Efforts are being made to provide best amenities to passengers. Chakka Jam caused inconveniences to passengers. Railway also suffered. But the trains would start running normally from Monday. All trains would run on old routes. Tickets of passengers were fully refunded due to cancellation of trains.”
