Jamshedpur, April 12: Shanti, the star tigress of Tata Zoo ate meat in small quantity after six days on Wednesday.
Seventeen-year-old Royal Bengal Tiger Shanti who suffered a paralytic attack a month back had become extremely weak and was refusing food from April 7 while the doctors were providing her with necessary vitamin through saline. The tigress condition remains critical.
Zoo director Bipul Chakravarty said Shanti suffered a paralytic attack a month back and since then her condition remained serious. The Zoo visitors are not hearing the roar of the tigress Shanti any more as she is confined to her cell and barely able to stand up.
The tigress Shanti who has entertained the people of Jamshedpur and nearybby areas is in her final stages of life. According to the Zoo director Shanti’s survival chances were very slim as her central nervous system has failed. Her health is deteriorating with every passing day and she is counting her days.
Shanti is the oldest among the animals at Tata zoo and the life span of a Royal Bengal Tiger is between 16 and 20 years and she has lived her life. Shanti is 17-years-old.
The Royal Bengal Tiger Shanti was born in the year 2000. She is mother to three children – Dona (5) and two-year-old twins Vivan and Aahana.
