Jamshedpur, May 23: Tata Zoo today celebrated International Day for Biological Diversity with rural children. The theme of this year celebration was “Harmony with Nature and Sustainable Development.”

To commemorate this occasion, the Zoo organised a lecture titled “The Importance of Forests as a Sustainable Livelihood for Human Beings”. Dr. Seema Rani, Zoo Biologist cum Education Officer, delivered lecture aimed to raise awareness about the significance of forests and their essential role in sustaining life on Earth.

It serves as an important reminder for us to acknowledge and value the significant contributions of forests to our ecosystems, climate, and overall well-being, encouraging us to take action in their preservation and sustainable management.
Around 30 rural children from the Seraikela-Kharsawan district, along with their accompanying teachers, participated in the programme.
After the participants’ Zoo round, a ‘Touch and Learn’ programme and a museum visit were organised, showcasing museum specimens and making the celebration a resounding success.
