Tata Workers Union contest today for 214 seat

Jamshedpur, Jan 30: The polls for the Tata Workers Union (TWU) would be held as per schedule on January 31.

The election officer for the poll, Santosh Kumar Singh on Saturday met the deputy labour commissioner Jamshedpur,  Rajesh Prasad and gave replies on all objections pertaining to the election.

The sub registrar workers association had sent a letter to the deputy labour commissioner to resolve all objections before allowing conduct of the polls which gave rise to speculation about postponement of the TWU elections.

However with the election officer submitting all answers on objections paving for the polls to be held as per schedule on Sunday.  The polling would take place between 7 am and 3 pm and counting would take place from 5 pm at Steelennium Hall inside the Tata Steel works. A total of 300 employees will be involved in the smooth conduct of the polls which is being held for 214 seats of committee members. There are 484 candidates in fray for committee members post and nearly 8000 voters would decide the fate of committee members.

A total of 32 candidates have been elected as committee members unopposed.
