Tata Steel will invest Rs 11,000 crore in Jamshedpur plant for green steel technology: Tata Group Chairman N. Chandrasekaran

Ranchi/Jamshedpur: Tata Steel will invest Rs 11,000 crore at its Jamshedpur plant in Jharkhand to develop advanced and green steel technologies, Tata Group Chairman N. Chandrasekaran said on Monday. Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren and Tata Steel CEO T.V. Narendran were also present.

Chandrasekaran said the investment will focus on producing advanced steel grades using low-carbon technology. “Tata Steel will invest ₹11,000 crore in Jharkhand to develop advanced green steel technology. This technology is based on low-carbon production,” he said. He added that the new technology developed by the Tata Group would also benefit other steel manufacturers in the country.

In addition, Tata Motors will invest in developing hydrogen-powered trucks at its Jamshedpur plant. Chandrasekaran described the hydrogen truck project as strategically important, stating that it offers significant opportunities for both domestic and global companies.

He further said that, on the suggestion of Chief Minister Soren, Tata Group will form a panel of experts to explore investment opportunities in various sectors to support the overall development of Jharkhand.
