Tata Steel West Bokaro: 332 SC/SC students awarded Jyoti Fellowship

Jamshedpur, March 12: As part of its Affirmative Action Policy, Tata Steel’s West Bokaro Division felicitated meritorious SC/ST students at its Jyoti Fellowship Awards Ceremony held at Sports Complex. Madhvi Mishra, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Ramgarh graced the occasion as Chief Guest along with Manish Mishra, General Manager, West Bokaro Division, Tata Steel

A total of 332 economically weak ST/SC from in and around West Bokaro were rewarded with fellowship grants. The toppers were given the cash grant along with a certificate and a visual dictionary. An amount of Rs 16.72 lakhs towards fellowship was disbursed among the students enrolled in various schools and colleges. A total of 176 girls and 156 boys were felicitated during the programme.

Lauding the efforts of Tata Steel in the field of education and skill development, Madhvi Mishra, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Ramgarh said, “This is just the beginning for all who have been awarded today. District Administration and Tata Steel is making sure that all who aspire are provided with a platform to excel and be mainstreamed. Jyoti Fellowship scholarship is one such initiative. Recognitions indeed encourage individuals to work harder and pave a better tomorrow for themselves. I congratulate all especially girls who are trying to excel in the field of education as they are setting examples for others like them to follow.”

Speaking on the occasion, Manish Mishra, General Manager, West Bokaro Division said: “Education is the foundation on which tomorrows are build. It has been Tata Steel’s continuous endeavors to promote education in its areas of operation though it’s various Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives. Jyoti Fellowship programme caters to not only to economically weak meritorious students but also keeps their dreams alive.”
