Tata Steel warns against fake recruitment scams

Jamshedpur, September 7: Tata Steel has uncovered a large-scale, multi-state fake recruitment scam, and an FIR has been filed against those involved. This has been confirmed by the company’s Brand Protection Team. People in general have been strongly urged by Tata Steel to exercise caution and avoid falling victim to fraudulent schemes that solicit payments in exchange for job opportunities at the Company.

Tata Steel emphasized that it followed a merit-based selection process and did not charge any fees or called for security deposits or facilitation charges at any stage of recruitment. A cautionary notice has been posted on the careers page of the official Tata Steel website: https://www.tatasteel.com/careers.

Tata Steel authorities contended that scammers had been using fake appointment letters and fraudulent communications, including emails, phone calls, and social media, to deceive job seekers. The Company has advised the  public to disregard any requests for payment and to recognize them as scams.

Only emails from the @tatasteel.com domain were legitimate. Tata Steel further pointed out the following domains that were fraudulent and should not be trusted and these included @hr-tatasteel.com; @taatacareer.co.in; @tatasteelhiring.com; @jobs-tatasteel.com and @hrtatagroup.in.

Tata Steel does not use Gmail or other non-corporate email addresses for official communication. Examples of fraudulent emails included ghoshrajib.tatasteel@gmail.com and silpa.hrm.tsl@gmail.com.

The Company urged everyone to verify the identity of senders when receiving job-related communications and to report any suspicious activity through the official website at https://www.tatasteel.com/careers.
