Jamshedpur, Feb 12: Tata Steel Utilities and Infrastructure Services Limited in its endeavour to increase green cover in Jamshedpur launched tree plantation drive at Kharkai river front, marine drive (near Adityapur toll bridge) on Saturday, February 12.
Kumar Arvind, Executive Engineer, Kharkai Canal Division, Adityapur accompanied by Rajeev Ranjan, Sub Divisional Officer, Tarun Daga, MD, Tata Steel UISL jointly launched the drive and planted saplings. Total of 650 saplings were planted.
Captain Dhananjay Mishra, Senior General Manager, Jharkhand Business, Tata Steel UISL and other officials of the company were present during the drive.

They pledged to plant more trees and nurture them for a green Jamshedpur.
The drive is to ensure that the area remains green and the embankment of the river is clean, green and protected, officials said.

Plants / saplings that were planted – Saraca asoca ( Sita ashok) Tabebuia rosea, Peltophorum ferruginum, Azadirachta indica (Neem), Tectona grandis (Teak), Pongamia pinnata (Karanj), Dalbergia sissoo (Shisham).
