Citizen encouraged to actively opt for new water connections
Jamshedpur, April 19: Tata Steel UISL inaugurated a state-of-the-art 5 MLD Water Treatment Plant at Bhuiyadih and an Automated Water Supply System at Central Water Tower, Bistupur today. The facilities were inaugurated by Chanakya Chaudhary, Vice President, Corporate Services, Tata Steel, in the presence of Ritu Raj Sinha, Managing Director, Tata Steel UISL.

Tata Steel has achieved almost 100% drinking water production capacity for its service areas after today’s inauguration.

The 5 MLD Bhuiyandih Water Treatment Plant has been developed to support Tata Steel’s commitment towards 100% piped water supply coverage in the unserved areas of Jamshedpur, including Babudih Lalbhatta, Bhuiyandih, NML Colony, Gwala Bustee and other nearby areas. The facility will cater to approximately 4,500 households and is based on Pressure Sand Filter (PSF) / Activated Carbon Filter (ACF) technology to ensure clean and safe drinking water.

Tata Steel UISL is actively encouraging more households to come forward, apply for connections as per government notified guidelines and gain access to timely and high quality water related services.
Complementing this initiative, the Automated Water Supply System inaugurated at Bistupur’s Central Water Tower will significantly enhance operational efficiency in the water distribution network. This intelligent system will ensure uninterrupted and timely water supply to Bistupur areas thus improving the overall quality of life for residents.

Also present at the event were Varun Bajaj, Chief, Town Infrastructure, Tata Steel, Sanjeev Jha, General Manager, Water and Wastewater Services, Rabindra Kumar Singh, General Manager, Town O&M along with members of the senior leadership team from Tata Steel and Tata Steel UISL.
These infrastructure upgrades are part of Tata Steel UISL’s larger vision to transform urban service delivery through innovation, sustainability, and inclusive development.
