Jamshedpur: Tata Steel UISL, with citizens and employees across the Steel City celebrated Van Mahotsav, the annual festival of forests, from July 1 to July 7. The week-long green campaign culminated in the planting and distribution of over 1,425 saplings.

The celebration saw enthusiastic participation across seven different locations. A total of 925 forest tree saplings were planted at six areas managed under the Tata Steel UISL network: near Combi Mill Gate no. 4, Jubilee Park, Bara Compost Plant, Jemco Ground, near Jayprakash Complex, and Keenan Stadium. To promote biodiversity and the environment, sturdy and shady trees such as Bakul, Karanj, Neem, Palash, and Amaltas were planted during this drive.

A special drive was also held on July 5th along the KS Link Road. Morning walkers received 500 free fruit-bearing and medicinal saplings from Tata Steel UISL to plant at their own homes. These distributed plants mainly included health-beneficial species like Amla, Aloe Vera, Tulsi, Giloy, and Jamun.

While the official week has concluded, the green movement will continue. The entire month of July is dedicated to mass plantation drives involving students, citizens, and various sections of society to ensure a greener future.
