Jamshedpur, September 4: Tata Steel, in collaboration with TRL Krosaki, formally inaugurated the use of reusable steel pallets for material handling at its LD2 Ladle Relining Area in Jamshedpur, marking a significant step towards sustainable and resource-efficient operations. The flag off was done by Chaitanya Bhanu, Vice President Operations, Tata Steel, Ranjan Kumar Sinha, Chief Procurement Officer, Tata Steel and P K Naik, Managing Director, TRL Krosaki.
The initiative follows a successful pilot phase where steel pallets were used for inbound refractory material deliveries and subsequently returned to the supplier for reuse. Unlike conventional wooden pallets that have a limited lifespan and generate waste, steel pallets are more durable, environmentally friendly, and cost-efficient in the long run.
This project is expected to not only reduce dependency on wood and minimize waste generation but also strengthen collaboration between the two organizations in driving sustainable practices, in line with Tata Steel’s commitment to its net zero goals.
Speaking on the occasion, senior leaders from Tata Steel and TRL Krosaki emphasized the importance of adopting circular solutions in supply chains.
The ceremony was attended by the senior management of both the organizations including Hitesh Hasmukhrai Shah, Chief LD2, Hari Babu, Chief LD1, Brijender Singh, Chief Refractories, Akhilesh Kumar, Chief Bulk Commodities and Industrial Gases, Saurabh Kundu, Chief Corporate Sustainability from Tata Steel and Sunanda Senguta, Executive Director from TRL Krosaki.
This initiative marks a meaningful step towards building a more circular, resource-efficient supply chain and reflects the shared vision of Tata Steel and TRL Krosaki in promoting sustainability across industrial ecosystems.
