Jamshedpur, Oct 12: East Singhbhum District Karate Championship was organised at JRD Tata Sports Complex on October 9 under the aegis of District Karate Do Association East Singhbhum.
Total of 155 candidates (Girls & Boys) from nine blocks of East Singhbhum participated in the championship.
Kasturba Vidyalaya, Ghatshila Subdivision was crowned the overall champion while Tata Steel Karate Training Centre team bagged the runners-up trophy.
Earlier, the championship was inaugurated by Sanjeev Kumar Choudhary, President Tata Workers Union in presence of Guest of Honour R Ravi Prasad and special guests Sanjay Kumar, Vinod Kumar Thakur, Amar Nath Tiwari, Jamuna Kumari, Tata Steel and Olympian Anand Menezes.

During the closing ceremony, state health minister Banna Gupta was present as the Chief Guest. He awarded the winners.
Also present were Y Ishwar Rao, President, ADL Sunshine English School, Kamal Kumar, Jt Secretary, ADL, Pawan Kumar, Senior Manager Sports, Tata Steel and others.
Shihan L. Nageshwar Rao, Genl. Secretary of Jharkhand State Karate Do Association ensured the championship was held successfully.
