Tata Steel Technical Institute Jamshedpur skilling youth, ensuring cent percent placement, creating entrepreneurs

Jamshedpur, Sept 6: Tata Steel Technical Institute (TSTI) in Jamshedpur stands as a beacon of hope for youth seeking technical proficiency.

As part of its efforts to address the skill development needs of the youth, particularly in Jamshedpur, Tata Steel Foundation set up the Tata Steel Technical Institute.

Established in 2014, this institute, located in Burmamains, has been diligently preparing the youth for promising careers.

With state-of-the-art infrastructure and Nettur Technical Training Foundation (NTTF), Bangalore as its training partner, TSTI has earned its reputation as one of the premier technical diploma colleges in Jharkhand.

With a current enrollment of 327 students, including 228 boys and 99 girls undergoing training in various trades, TSTI has become a key player in skill development. Notably, 582 students have successfully completed diploma programs at this institute, of which 106 were female candidates, informed Ved Prakash, Principal, TSTI.

During a recent media visit organized by Tata Steel Corporate Communication, Principal Ved Prakash and Lead Institution, Skill Development, Tata Steel Foundation, Brijkishore Singh presented insights into the institute’s inception, curriculum, extracurricular activities, and impressive placement records.

One of TSTI’s remarkable achievements is its 100% placement record.

They informed that till date 571 students have secured employment in various companies, while 8 have opted for higher education, and three have ventured into entrepreneurship.

The TSTI offers two diploma courses – one in Mechatronics Engineering and Smart Factory, and another in Electrical and Electronics Engineering. TSTI is an accredited training partner of the National Skill Development Corporation and has National Open College Network Accreditation.

The institute also offers B.Voc courses that are accredited through Arka Jain University, which awards degrees upon completion. TSTI is ISO certified with ISO 9001, 14001, 21001, and 45001 certifications.

The institute boasts 13 specialized laboratories that provide hands-on training on machines commonly used in various industries.

“The TSTI infrastructure covers world class skill-development laboratories on campus, which include an Automation Laboratory, Workshop rooms, a 3D printer, and separate laboratories for Applied Science, Internet-of-Things (IOT), Graphics, Instrumentation, Renewable Energy and Power Electronics. The institute also makes extensive use of robotics,” said Brijkishore Singh, adding, “The institute believes that in the 21st century, skills are the currency of employment and self-employment. We equip students with not only technical expertise but also essential computer skills like Word, Excel, and typing, opening doors to diverse employment opportunities.”

Singh stated that one unique aspect of TSTI’s teaching methodology is the “My Buddy” program, where meritorious students mentor those who require additional support. This initiative fosters a collaborative and friendly learning environment.

In line with Industry 4.0, TSTI is in the process of acquiring a modular manufacturing system, further solidifying its position as a leading technical diploma college in Jharkhand.

Since the inception of the institute, the students and the institute have won several accolades such as winning the CII Zonal Skill Competition for Industrial Pneumatics and bagging the Suri Seva Foundation Scholarship, which awarded a sum of Rs 1 Lakh to the Student of the Year from TSTI.
