Tata steel organises Sumilan with vendor partners

Jamshedpur : Safety & Ergonomics department of Tata Steel, in its ongoing endeavor to strengthen relationship with its partners, has created a forum called �SUMILAN� with an objective to make Steel Works an accident free zone. This forum facilitates interaction with supervisors, contractor�s employees and vendor partners.
An interactive session, under the forum of Sumilan, was organized with nearly 400 vendor partners today at steelenium hall. The session was jointly addressed by D K Singh from Ms. N Kumar & Company and Mr. A N Tiwary from Jusco, who shared with the audience, the best safety practices followed in their respective companies. The programme also included showcasing of incident based films to create awareness on the subject.
In his address to the gathering, A K Mishra, Dy Chief Inspector of Factories, stressed on the mutual responsibilities that both the Management and Vendors share, when it comes to the safety of the workplace. Mr. Mishra also appreciated the safety initiatives taken by the Tata Steel Management.
Speaking on the occasion, Suresh Kumar, Dy VP, Shared Services, Tata Steel talked about the relationship between contractors and its employees and how the onus is on the former to care and motivate the latter.
Earlier in the programme, Shyam Sunder, Chief, Safety & Ergonomics welcomed the guests and briefed the audience about the concept of Sumilan and how �manthan� programmes organized with workers and supervisors was instrumental in the evolution of this forum.
