Jamshedpur : Tata Steel ushered into the New Year with a promise to provide better infrastructure facilities and improved living standards in the Steel City.
T V Narendran, managing director, Tata Steel, while extending his warm wishes during the cake cutting ceremony on the occasion of New Year at Centre for Excellence, said that the company is committed towards all-round development the city and the New Year will witness a new beginning.
In his address to the senior citizens of Jamshedpur, he promised advanced infrastructure development with special focus on roads. Utility provider Jusco will carry out necessary works he noted. He also stressed on the need for participation by one and all for all-around growth of the city.
“Jamshedpur is a brand in itself. With the co-operation of everyone we would like to take Jamshedpur to a different level and make it an attractive place,” he said addressing the august gathering.
Talking to the media on the sidelines of the ceremony, he expressed the hope that mining activities would be resumed in a couple of days after Government approval.
There are some formalities needed to be completed, which will be done in two-three days, and than we’ll resume our production activity in the Noamundi mine. He said that the company has the grit to face every challenge.
Referring to the Kalinganagar project in Odisha, Narendran said the first phase of three million ton was expected to be commissioned in the next couple of months as Tata Steel had focused on the Greenfield project.
Asked about the possibility of further expansion in Jamshedpur plant, Narendran said “we have applied for environmental clearance for it. Currently, we have 10.5 million tons of capacity of Hot Metal production, which we have plan to further enhance to 11.5 million tons,” he said.
Meanwhile, throwing light on the path ahead for the Tata Steel in the new calendar year, the managing director said that the steel major would continue to do its work to protect the environment and serve the community.
On this occasion he also issued advice for the people of the Steel City should focus on safety.
